BERLIN CURATED.

A new platform for emerging fashion talent celebrates its debut during Berlin Fashion Week.

On July 2nd, 2025, Berlin Curated celebrated its debut at Berlin Fashion Week with a runway show at FÜRST. As a brand-new format, it marked the launch of a nationwide initiative dedicated to supporting the next generation of fashion designers.

The initiative is led by former Vogue Germany Editor-in-Chief Christiane Arp in collaboration with Josepha Rodriguez and Sonja Hodzode, who were responsible for the curation and styling of the show. Casting was led by Hien Le. The concept and overall coordination were developed by

0049x.

With 14 designers from fashion schools across Germany presenting three looks. Set to a custom soundtrack by Klaus Stockhausen, the collections reflected the richness and range of emerging fashion perspectives. From sculptural tailoring to deconstructed elegance, from personal narratives to bold experiments in silhouette and texture, the runway presented contrasts and cohesion. All united by a clear intention to create lasting visibility for new talent.

The participating designers were Alina Nazari (HAW Hamburg), David Sandersfeld (Lette Verein Berlin), Friedrich Fromm (Kunsthochschule Berlin Weissensee), Henning Sadau (Hochschule Pforzheim), Luis Buchwald (AMD Akademie Mode & Design), Lotta Strobauch (Hochschule Trier), Rika Behrens (HAW Hamburg), Rosalba Faroqhi (Lette Verein Berlin), Saudin Crnovrshanin (Hochschule Trier), Shahnoz Bakhtiyorova (HAW Hamburg), Stefan Uhr (HTW Berlin), Tim Nelson Escher (UdK Berlin), Waiian Aung (Hochschule Macromedia) and Yannic Pretzlaff (UdK Berlin).

The event was attended by an engaged and supportive audience. Among them were Michael Biel, State Secretary of the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, as well as representatives of the Fashion Council Germany, international guests, professors from participating universities and of course, friends and family of the designers. The atmosphere was both celebratory and meaningful, a clear signal of Berlin’s ongoing commitment to creative education and cultural innovation.

After the show, guests were invited to an official reception with drinks, where Christiane Arp and Michael Biel spoke about the format and congratulated the designers. The gathering offered an opportunity for exchange and photos with the designers. It also marked the launch of XIER Magazine by Anke Schlöder and Joachim Baldauf.

The Berlin Curated format continues beyond the runway. Parts of the designers’ collections are presented in the Berlin Curated Showroom at PLATTE e.V., an exhibition imagined by Sven Marquardt. In addition, all designers were featured in editorial formats. XIER Magazine produced a fashion editorial with all participants, while Hotline Magazine by AMD Berlin published written features on their collections. These media collaborations help extend the

visibility of Berlin Curated beyond the show itself.

Berlin Curated is not a one-time project. It is built as an annual, sustainable platform to support the future of German fashion talent. This successful first edition laid the foundation for that mission.
